New Opportunities in FND Care in 2026

Hello!

As we move through the first seasons of 2026, we’re excited to share the momentum, progress, and community spirit that continue to shape Let’s Talk FND. This year marks a fresh chapter of collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to improving outcomes for individuals living with Functional Neurological Disorder and the clinicians who support them.

Here’s what we’re celebrating and what you can look forward to in the months ahead:

A Growing Library of Resources

We’re continuing to expand our suite of practical, evidence-informed tools for clinicians andpatients. Our downloadable guides including 5 Steps to Understanding FND and the FND Holiday Survival Guide remain available to support your work and help patients feel more confident and prepared in their recovery journey.

We've had great feedback we've had from the patient webinar series Building Your FND Recovery Roadmap, helping patients with FND and their supporters understanding their personal : Why Me? Why Now? What Works? for FND.

If you haven’t already, feel free to share these resources with your patients and their care teams to help align expectations and strengthen collaborative care.

Strengthening Clinical Training and Support

Last year’s Creating an FND-Fit Practice Webinar brought together clinicians from across Australia to share insights, challenges, and strategies for delivering patient-centred FND care. The engagement and feedback were invaluable, helping us refine our offerings and shape the next wave of training opportunities.

Out of this we created a clinician training package launched in February 2026 - FND Essentials: Empowering Clinicians in Confident and Collaborative Care. This course represents a significant milestone in our mission to strengthen and support the clinical community working with FND. Designed with both practicality and compassion at its core, this offering brings together evidence‑informed strategies, real‑world case examples, and a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary collaboration.

It reflects everything we’ve learned from clinicians over the past year, their challenges, their commitment, and their desire for clearer, more confident pathways in FND care. We delivered this training package to our first cohort of clinicians and the feedback was positive as practitioners felt more equipped with the tools, frameworks, and shared language needed to deliver consistent, patient‑centred support. FND Essentials is more than a training program; it’s an investment in a more connected, capable, and empowered community of care.

Deepening Our Expertise

To ensure we continue offering the highest-quality education and support, we are both currently completing the FNDS Advanced Course for the Assessment & Management of Functional Neurological Disorder.

This ongoing professional development allows us to bring you the most up-to-date research, clinical strategies, and practical tools. We are motivated to ensure our resources, webinars, and training programs remain relevant, evidence-based, and responsive to the needs of the FND community.

New Blog: The Most Common Misunderstandings About FND

Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) is still widely misunderstood, and many patients continue to hear outdated or unhelpful explanations about their symptoms. In this new blog, we unpack some of the most common myths about FND and explain what current neuroscience actually tells us about the condition. The article provides a clear, compassionate explanation that clinicians can confidently share with patients, helping reduce stigma and reinforce that symptoms are real and recovery is possible through brain–body retraining and neuroplastic change.

Building a Connected Clinical Community

We’re proud to continue our involvement with the QLDFNDSig and to support the growing network of clinicians dedicated to improving FND care across Australia. Our LinkedIn presence has also expanded, becoming a central hub for updates, research, and shared learning.

Meanwhile, the FND Clinician Network Facebook Group has evolved into a vibrant space for case discussions, resource sharing, and peer support. If you’re part of this community, thank you for contributing to such a collaborative and inspiring environment. We've been going for 4 years now, clinicians why don't you join us?

Research Opportunities

As we look ahead, we’re excited to highlight research opportunities that will help strengthen the evidence base for FND care and deepen our understanding of both clinician experiences and patient needs.

Patients and clinicians can also participate in additional studies exploring lived experience, treatment pathways, and service delivery.

FND and Stress ( Victorian Women)

Children and Chronic Pain (UTS- Sydney)

FND Patient Support Group (Brisbane)

By taking part in these studies and activities, our community plays an active role in shaping future resources, informing best‑practice guidelines, and advancing collaborative, evidence‑based care for people living with FND.

What’s Ahead in 2026

We’re planning workshops and additional resources to support your growth and confidence in FND care throughout the year. Stay tuned for updates.

The Perfect Storm: Unpacking the Tipping Point of Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)
Imagine a storm brewing—not in the sky, but within the nervous system. It starts quietly: stress, emotional strain, or a lingering ache. Then, something tips. The brain and body miscommunicate, leading to symptoms like tremors, speech difficulties, or fatigue. This is Functional Neurological Disorder (FND)—a condition where the nervous system freezes under immense pressure. In our latest blog, ...
